ALISA BERNARD

Alisa exited prostitution over a decade ago and after years of hard work came to the understanding that prostitution is a systemic societal problem for women, children and men. Alisa pulls from both her life experience and academic knowledge to be a powerful public speaker as well as a published author, educator and policy advocate. She presents both regionally and nationally on the topics of prostitution and trafficking as forms of gender based violence and a societal problem. She sits on multiple boards of directors for nonprofits in Seattle, consults to governmental agencies and NGO’s across the country, is an advisory member of the the Buyer Beware team working to eliminate the demand for commercial sex in King County and is a firm advocate for Nordic Model implementation in the US. Alisa is above all things an activist for women’s rights and a mentor to others.
